Performance Assessments - ICDG Members are engaged by financial institutions, investors, boards of directors or the management of the client organization to determine the status or viability of a business. This work takes into account several key factors including; market conditions and events, financial performance, operating performance, management capability, infrastructure and support systems. The work product forms the basis of a report for the client that is used to determine a course of action. In the case of financial institutions our reports are used in relation to the decision to continue or sever the client relationship. Following the presentation of our report Members are often engaged by the client (frequently at the insistence of the financial institution) to provide management with advice and counsel as well as providing financial institutions with comfort during the period of forbearance or performance improvement. ICDG is also instrumental in helping the client identify new providers of capital.

Breakthrough Initiatives - Members, based on their extensive experience, assist clients in the process of identifying, defining and taking advantage of strategic and tactical breakthrough opportunities by designing and implementing operational and / or financial plans designed to improve work processes and systems. Typically these opportunities are related to market conditions and events, competitive threats or weaknesses, technological issues and operational efficiency in all areas of a business. The objective is to improve top line performance, improve gross margins, reduce operating expenses and to improve the efficiency of work processes and systems in functional areas within the business.

Crisis Management - Members have the experience and independence to cause clients to face up to crisis situations whether they are related to managerial, operational or financial performance. In over 80% of these situations the crisis is related to the lack of liquidity; typically caused by indecision and the failure on the part of management to act timely.

Turnaround Management - Following a crisis response where it has been determined the client is or can become viable, Members are engaged to design and implement a turnaround plan that represents a permanent fix versus a band-aid approach to the client's problems.

Interim Management - Members are engaged to help private and closely held family firms handle management transition underperformance, emergencies associated with illness, death, and family member conflict. In these cases Members assume an interim management role. Once the turnaround is solidly underway our Members assist in the recruiting, selection and replacement of management. In conflict situations Members focus on coaching and mentoring the manager and management team. In special situations the Member will introduce a licensed psychologist who is skilled in family conflict resolution.

Financial Structuring - In a crisis or turnaround situation, cash flow planning and management are critical. In performing this function for clients we focus on developing (in concert with management and other interested parties) a customized 13-week rolling cash flow model. In certain circumstances ICDG continues to be responsible for managing the cash flow of the client. The objective in these situations is to provide the client with the time necessary to improve financial performance as the basis for maintaining or changing lender relationships successfully; e.g., to ensure the continued viability and success of the entity.

Bankruptcy – ICDG Members can help to quickly evaluate the potential validity of Chapter 11 reorganization, prepare the client to file and help manage through the process to achieve a successful reorganization or the sale of assets through Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. Valuations - Members with special training and certifications (CTP / CPA / AVA) are engaged in the preparation of certified business valuations and feasibility studies. They provide both valuations and evaluations; the former a quantitative measure and the latter subjective. Valuations are used in a variety of situations including; sale / purchase of a business, divorce, tax planning, insolvency, litigation, and numerous others.

Strategic Planning - ICDG Members approach strategic planning from the perspective of what it will take to create more desirable future results for the client by influencing the outside world or adapting current programs and actions so as to have more favorable outcomes in the external environment. This includes questioning and challenging the beliefs in the client organization as the basis for identifying opportunities that, when capitalized on, cause the organization to reach higher levels of successful performance.

Executive Coaching & Development - ICDG specialists are skilled at helping managers develop the skills necessary to find and manage solutions when past experience doesn’t provide answers and the future is unclear. ICDG approaches this issue by providing services for individual managers and management teams responsible for improving their organizations overall performance. These services cover individual assessments, confidential individual testing, coaching and mentoring. In group settings ICDG specialists develop customized seminars designed to help management teams understand their role and responsibility in the process of corporate renewal.
